| Belize is nestled alongside Guatemala
in Central America, sharing a border to the north with Mexico.
It's an English-speaking enclave and an independent country.
Belize is often referred to as the bridge between the Caribbean
and Central America. Belize City, with a population of 70,000,
is the country's biggest city and former capital. The court
system and legislation are based on British
Common Law. The first offshore company legislation
(The International Business
Companies Act) was implemented in 1990. Its provisions acquired
the best from the British Virgin Island's Business Companies Act.
At the time being, Belize remains one of the finest Offshore
Financial Centers (OFCs) due to its political stability and
presence of a number of successful offshore banks. At
the same time, the Belize offshore companies (Belize IBCs) are popular offshore vehicles
due to their low incorporation
costs and strong confidentiality.
Belize Offshore Tax System
The Belize IBC's and their non-resident directors, shareholders, and
officers are exempt from all Belizean taxes. Belize has entered
into double tax treaties with Denmark, Sweden, the United Kingdom,
and the countries of the Caribbean Community.
